Mastering Chemistry

Mastering Chemistry, as the name suggests, is an online resource for students to master the subject by thorough understanding and pratice of the questions under Chemistry. Students can get all the required help with Chemistry from the expert Chemistry tutors available online.

Introduction

Chemistry is a branch which deals with matter,chemicals,particles like atoms,molecuels etc.To know more or master in chemistry need to understand the basic principles,definition and importance of chemsitry i.e phenomenon,properties action of the different particles etc.

This article provides the brief information of the chemistry:

  • Fundamental Particles
  • Gaseous State
  • Formulas

Mastering Chemistry

Fundamental Particles

All chemical phenomenons happens around us & it is because of the basis of matter, matter is made up of molecules. The molecules are made up of atoms. Dalton's atomic theory say an atom is a indivisible particle. Later research suggestions led to discovery of fundamental particles like proton, electron and neutron. Arrangements of these fundamental particles in atom are explained through various theories. The atom consist nucleus in the center. Neutrons and protons exist within the nucleus while the electrons revolve around nucleus. The Atomic theory was proposed by Rutherford.

Atomic number:

Every atom of a given element consists of a definite number of protons and equal number of electrons. This number is called the atomic number of that element. It is denoted by Z. This is equal to positive charge on the atomic nucleus.

Gaseous State

The states of matter includes solid, liquid and gas. Gas molecules do not pocess definite shape and size as the molecules are apart from each other. Gas molecules occupies entire volume of any container & their volume is considered to be same as the container. Gas molecules have both expandability and compressibility. The volume of the gas changes if its temperature and pressure changes. Pressure has very less effect on solid and liquid but it has high effect on gas molecules.

The gas molecules move with great velocity and unaffected by gravity therefore they gets mixed with the molecules and other gases. The property is called as Diffusion. The smell of the perfumes spread due to the property.

Formulas

1)Number of moles = mass of a gas in grams
-------------------------------------------------------
Molecular mass of agas in grams

n=m/M

2) 1liter=1decimetre 3 =1000 milli litres = 1000cm3

3) 1 atmosphere=76cm of Hg or 760mm of Hg.

4) K=0C+273.15=0C+273

Students can get help with specific sub-divisions of Chemistry like theOrganic Chemistry help.

Answering to Mastering Chemistry

To answer the chemistry question need to remember the folllowing points:

Students can get help with Chemistry homework problems too from the online tutors.

Mastering Chemistry Homework

1) What is the charge of Z?

a) Positive b) negative c) neutral d) 0

2) Calculate mass number of oxygen when number o f neutrons are 8?

a) 2 b) 8 c) 16 d) 0

Given:

Oxygen atomic number=8=Z

N=8

A=8+8=16

3) How does atomic number varies top the group?

a) Increases b) no change c) slight change d) Decreases

4) Who proposed the simple relation between the frequencies of the characteristics x rays?

a) Mosley b) Bohr c) Rutherford

5) Calculate the atomic number when frequency is 4 and a=1 b=0?

Given:

V=4

A=1

B=0

Formula: V1/2 = a (Z-b)

(4)1/2=1(z-0)

(22)1/2=1z

2=z

Z=2

Helium atomic number is 2
