Addition means summing up the digits. In addition, the first number is called the augend and the second number is called the addend.
Steps involved in Addition of a Four Digit Number
Step1: In the first step add the ones digit of both the numbers. If the sum is greater than 9 then put the right digit in the answer box and place the left digit over the tens digit of addend. So, it will be added during tens addition else place the sum as it is.
Step 2: Now, we will add the tens digit of both the numbers. If the tens digit of addend have any carry we will add this with the sum of both the tens digit. And if get the sum of the digits greater than 9 then put right digit of the obtained sum in the answer box and place the left digit over the hundreds digit of the addend. Else place the sum in the answer box as it is. If we get any carry place it over the hundreds digit of the addend.
Step3: Lets add the hundreds digit of both the numbers. If the hundreds digit of addend have any carry we will add this with the sum of both the hundreds digit. And if get the sum of the digits greater than 9 then put right digit of the obtained sum in the answer box and place the left digit over the thousands digit of the addend. Else place the sum in the answer box as it is. If we get any carry place it over the thousands digit of the addend.
Step4: now we will add the thousands digit of both the numbers. If the thousands digit of addend have any carry we will add this with the sum of both the thousands digit. And we will place the sum in the answer box as it is.
