How to Factor Polynomials

Introduction to Factor Polynomials :

Factoring polynomials is a process of splitting polynomial into many number over the given field. Now we get the factors which are together form polynomial functions. Polynomial functions contain the function in the form of xn + xn-1 + xn-2 +…… + k = 0, here k is constant and n is the power. By solving this we can do polynomial factoring of degree 3 as well.

Example: Find the factors for x2 + 16x + 16 = 0 by Polynomials factoring

x2+ 8x + 8x + 16 =0

x (x+4) + 4(x + 4) = 0

(x + 4) (x+ 4) = 0

So (x + 4) (x+ 4) are the factors for the equation x2 + 16x + 16 = 0.

Factoring Polynomials

How to factor polynomials : Factoring includes four main factors namely Variables, Parenthesis, Exponents and Operations (+, -, x, /).

These four keywords play a vital role in how to factor polynomials by grouping.

Factoring polynomials

Variables:

Variables are generally used to assign some value; it is a symbol which represents a number. In general n, s, x are used as variables. We generally use these variables in formulas, and while determining unknown values.

Exponents:

Exponents tell us how many times the base is used as a factor for given digit.

Parenthesis and Operations:

Parenthesis and operations play an important role in mathematics , in a given problem while solving the equations we need to follow BODMAS rule .

BODMAS Where: B= brackets /parenthesis D=division M=multiplication A=Addition S=subtraction.

Example: solve 3(4+4)/2+5-3
